Tree Swallows at Delta Marsh

For adult birds, molting flight feathers is one of the costly events of the year – along with breeding and migrating.

If you fly to make a living, like swallows, it pays to come to a place with lots of flying food – like midges at the Delta Marsh.

Thousands of Tree Swallows come to Delta in the late summer to molt where there are millions of midges.
