spinning wing decoys - work better north
Had a great weekend with a friend in that pictured Saskatchewan wheat field, with Pintails, layout blinds, some goose & crane decoys and 4 spinning wing decoys.
Afton and Szymanski researched the effects of spinning wing decoys years ago – striking benefit up north; not in Louisiana.
In fields in Manitoba spinning wing decoys increased chances of ducks coming withing 25 yards by a whopping 28 times. In Louisiana later in the same season the benefit of spinning wings turned on was 1.1 times that of when the spinners were turned off. Ducks clearly learn through the fall.
We found spinning wing decoys were magic in Saskatchewan too.
