Last to Arrive - Different Breeding Strategy

The typical last duck to get to the prairies arrived at Bismarck about a week ago.

Ruddies are unlike other ducks in arriving to breeding areas unpaired. In fact, we remain unsure that there are stable pair bonds in Ruddies.

Males constantly display to multiple females. I will capture that display in a video soon – it is adorable to me; probably hens too.
