How many for a full duck?

Last week when hunting in a pea field my brother and I wondered how many peas a mallard would ingest before it was full.

We guessed about 80, but had no way to measure since the ducks came to the field empty.

Today back in ND I shot a pheasant that was full of soybeans.

Naturally, I photographed and counted the crop contents. 267 soybeans. I’d bet my estimate for peas in a full Mallards was too low.
