Delta Waterfowl Welcomes Development Director for South Texas
Seasoned fundraiser Rhett Butler joins The Duck Hunters Organization™ to leverage support for ducks and duck hunters
BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA — Delta Waterfowl is proud to announce the addition of Rhett Butler as the organization’s new development director for South Texas. A lifelong outdoorsman and seasoned nonprofit leader, Butler brings both a passion for waterfowl conservation and nearly two decades of fundraising experience to his new role.
“Rhett offers a wealth of professional experience in major and planned gift fundraising, and his sincerity just makes him a great guy to be around,” said John Davis, Delta’s senior vice president of development. “He’ll serve as a strong advocate for ducks and the rich tradition of duck hunting along the Texas gulf coast.”
Growing up on a farm in Oklahoma, Butler learned at an early age the importance of land stewardship, wildlife conservation, and the outdoor traditions that define Delta Waterfowl’s mission. Those experiences fueled a lifelong love of hunting and a personal commitment to preserving waterfowl and waterfowl habitats for future generations.
“I’ve always believed in giving back to the places and traditions that shaped me,” Butler said. “Joining Delta Waterfowl allows me to combine my professional expertise with my personal passion for conservation and the outdoors.”
Butler has served in key development roles at respected organizations including the Louisiana State University Foundation, Tiger Athletic Foundation, LSU Alumni Association, the National World War II Museum, and Gardere Community Christian School. Most recently, he led corporate partnerships and fundraising for Helix Community Schools. Throughout his career, Butler has excelled at building meaningful donor relationships, securing major gifts, and creating innovative partnerships that strengthen communities and causes.
In his new position, Butler will work closely with Delta’s South Texas volunteers, members, and donors to expand the organization’s impact.
“I’m eager to roll up my sleeves and work alongside our incredible South Texas supporters,” Butler added. “Together we can ensure that waterfowl, wetlands, and our hunting heritage thrive for generations to come.”
