Delta Waterfowl Congratulates Nesvik on Confirmation as U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director
The U.S. Senate has confirmed Brian Nesvik as director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Nesvik retired last September as director of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department after a 30-year career. In February, President Donald Trump nominated Nesvik to lead the USFWS.
During his confirmation hearing before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee on March 26, Nesvik noted the importance of both the USFWS Migratory Bird Program and the National Wildlife Refuge System after a series of questions from Sen. John Boozman (R-Ark.).
During the exchange, Nesvik noted the National Wildlife Refuge System is a “jewel of the country” and would be a focus under his leadership.
“We look forward to working with Director Nesvik as he leads the USFWS,” said John Devney, chief policy officer for Delta Waterfowl. “There are incredible opportunities before us to secure significant victories for ducks and duck hunters in the coming years. A renewed commitment to the Migratory Bird Program, a revitalized future for the National Wildlife Refuge System, increased access to national wildlife refuges across the country through the annual Hunt/Fish Rule, and many more. We look forward to working with Director Nesvik and his staff to realize these opportunities.”
